Where is he, the promised seed?
Where is the ram, the great I AM?
Where is the priest who will intercede?
Where is he, the prophet true?
Where is the one, David’s greater Son?
Where is the babe who was born this day?
Where is he, born the Jewish king?
Where is the child, a threat and rival?
Where is our son—with the learned ones?
Where did he go—is he in the boat?
Where is the healer who can heal her?
Where is the Savior? Show us your favor.
Where go you, Rabbi? I shall stay by your side.
Where is he? You kiss his cheek.
Where is he now—the stone moved, but how?
Where is the one, born to save? He is risen from the grave.
Where did he go after the tomb—on the road, in the room?
Where did he rise? To his Father’s side.
Where is he, born prophet, priest, and king?
There, in heaven; here, in my heart,
From where he shall never depart.
Where is he, again? Coming quickly. Amen.
The inspiration for this poem came from many passages in Scripture. Below are three I especially wanted to share. Wishing you a wonderful Easter!
“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.’”
Matthew 2:1–2
“‘He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.'”
Matthew 28:6
“Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Luke 12:34
